Windsock

Our DIY Dream Catcher has been such a hit that it seemed only necessary to also experiment with some more outdoor DIY decorations and crafts for kids. Windsocks are equally as stunning as well as simple to make, so naturally, we created our own with some fabulous touches. A few basic, household materials and some imagination generate a pretty craft in little time. These can be customized for any special occasion and always look lovely with some light outside air breezing through! Have fun adding some whimsy to your outdoor space.

Supplies:

  • Plastic Cup
  • Ribbon (we used 2 different colors)
  • Gems/rhinestones
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • String (2 ft. long)
  • Scissors
  • Windsock Craft for girls

I am currently writing a Vacation Bible School curriculum on the story of Elijah. I was doing some research on art activities and came across your windsock activity (http://www.thecharmitspot.com/?p=1456).

I would like to include this in my Art Station Guide for the curriculum. I took a screen shot of one of your photos and included a link to your blog. This curriculum will only be used at our church.

      Thank you for considering,

      Alicia

Hi, just a heads-up. Windsock are really great to have if you do science research or just for plain fun. It doesn’t only point to which direction the wind is blowing, it also tells us the wind speed and the wind strength. It is also used by airports, weather stations, and other factories that requires this kind of tool. There are several manufacturers of windsocks. Though you can create your own too. But if your place requires certain degree of quality of windsocks, you should consider its size and shape.
