I guess you could say I have always been imaginative, curious, and very much of a “dreamer”. Dreams fascinate me. Naturally, so do dream catchers! A dream catcher is believed to catch the pleasant dreams and float them down the feathers onto the dreamer, while the negative dreams get tangled in its web and pass at morning with the sunlight.
Years ago my dad took a business trip to Colorado and he brought me back a beautiful handmade Native American dream catcher in shades of purple to match my bedroom. Our new puppy at the time (now 10 years old) loved it as much as I did, and sadly tore it apart before I even had the chance to hang it above my bed!
A recent dream made me wish I had one again! After a little research, I discovered that dream catchers can be made with everyday items… who would’ve thought? If I can make something with glitter, I am all for it… so I set out to create a sparkly, glitzy dream catcher of my own.
What you need:
Directions:
1. Cut out the center of the paper plate
2. Punch 3 even holes at the bottom of the plate and scatter several holes around the rim.
3. Cut a 4 ft. piece of yarn
4. Weave yarn through the scattered holes around the rim in any pattern you like. Secure the yarn at the beginning and end points with a knot.
5. Cut three more pieces of yarn 5” long and tie each through the 3 even holes punched at the bottom of the plate.
6. Thread beads onto the hanging yarn
7. Tie the feathers at the end of the hanging yarn (this will hold beads in place)
8. Add some sparkle with glitter & gems
9. Tie ribbon at the top
10. DREAM!
